As we step into 2019 and as I step into the new year with Create Simple, there has been a lot of things happening and an overall feeling of being overwhelmed. When I started this venture in September, I was hoping to create a community of like-minded people all wanting to create change when it came to zero-waste and living more consciously.
Finishing my second last semester of post-secondary in December, Create Simple took the back burner and I lost sight of why I wanted to start this project. I wanted to share with people insightful information, I wanted to create conversation, and I wanted myself to become more conscious.
Create Simple has jumped around in the creative process as I tried to figure out a good flow. I’ll admit I think I added too much to it and I regret letting it slip the way it did, but this January I am taking the reins back and learning again what it means to live more simply.
Getting Back On Track:
Create Simple’s mission is to help people understand the problems of society when it comes to waste and eco-damages and to then show ways to more simple and easy solutions. It’s not all about ditching every plastic item and throwing out everything you would consider “bad,” it’s about being aware and then making changes.
This is what Create Simple aims to do in January and we are starting with our 30 Day Challenge to help us get thinking consciously again about life.
What This Challenge Means:
Every day there is a challenge of the day and the goal is to complete the action and reflect on it. Being aware of your surroundings is important and reducing clutter around your home and mind is the best way to let change in. You can participate with us using the #createsimple on Instagram to show you completing the challenge!
Why You Should Care:
Minimalism is not something that solely refers to our physical space. Being zero-waste does not mean that you can never have any garbage ever. This conscious lifestyle isn’t always about doing the right thing.
What it is about is knowing when there is a problem, acknowledging the problem, and finding ways to live more greener, more simpler, more conscious!
I set some goals for the new year and for this project and I’m going to share them with you!
Focus more on reducing - reducing waste, reducing wasted time, reducing stress, reducing unneeded items in my life.
Remembering green - trying to incorporate more walking, less driving. Choosing the greener option, remembering my bags and containers, eating more leafy greens.
Creating more - I love cooking and I love making DIY’s so if I’m craving something, I’ll find a recipe, if I’m in need of something I’ll DIY it. (This one will obviously be the harder challenge, but every bit counts)
What are you goals for the new year when it comes to simple living?
Until next time, let’s Create Simple
